US-South Korea joint military drills cancelled over coronavirus

Due to the spread of coronavirus in the United States, military exercises with South Korea were cancelled. This is reported on May 20 by Yonhap News with reference to military sources. According to sources, in mid-April, South Korea planned to send a 30-man special forces team to the National Training Center (NTC) at Fort Irvine, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, joint exercises had to be postponed. It is known that in March of this year Seoul also planned to send to the USA a team of specialists of 50 people, but for similar reasons the trip did not take place. It is noted that the parties are currently discussing the possibility of holding exercises in October this year. As of May 20, 1.5 million cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in the United States, and more than 93,000 people have been victims of the pandemic.
