At the Kuru Cosmodrome, the launch of a Vega rocket with 53 satellites was postponed
The launch of the Vega launch vehicle with a package of satellites for various purposes from the Kourou Cosmodrome in French Guiana was postponed from June 27 to 28 due to adverse weather conditions. This was reported by the press service of the launch operator Arianepspace. Initially, the launch of the European Space Agency Vega rocket from the Kuru Cosmodrome was planned for June 19. Due to the strong wind in the area of the launch pad, the launch was postponed several times, but the weather did not normalize. The next launch attempt is scheduled for June 28. The Vega launch vehicle as part of the Flight VV16 mission will launch 53 small satellites into Earth orbit. These spacecraft belong to 21 organizations from 13 different countries, including Russia. One of the satellites prepared for launch was developed at the Research Institute of Nuclear Physics of Moscow State University together with the University of Grenoble. This device, called AMICal, will be used to study the polar lights. As previously reported by the news agency, the upcoming launch will be the first for the Kuru cosmodrome in 2020. In March, the French government suspended the cosmodrome due to the pandemic of a new coronavirus infection.
