Oregon state refuses to use National Guard to suppress protests

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler's request to introduce the National Guard into the city to suppress the riots was rejected by Oregon Governor Kate Brown, who does not agree with US President Donald Trump's call for the widespread use of this type of troops. She stated this on 1 June during a press conference. The head of the state noted that this is not the first time Wheeler asks her to use the forces of the National Guard. Brown added that she would send 100 police officers and 50 unarmed National Guard reserves to Portland, whose tasks would include providing exceptional support to the city police. According to the news agency, on June 1, US President Donald Trump said that the riots that engulfed the United States over the death of Negro George Floyd were acts of internal terrorism.
