Chinese specialists have completed the main work on the construction of a planetarium in Shahnai, which should become the largest in the world. It is reported by the newspaper Shanghai Daily. The construction of a planetarium in Shanghai's Pudong district under the leadership of the Shanghai Museum of Science and Technology began in November 2016. The main construction work was completed on June 23, 2020. Now the builders will have to carry out work on the interior decoration of the premises and the organization of exhibition space. The total area of the complex of three main buildings was about 38 thousand square meters. m., which makes the Shanghai planetarium the largest in the world. It is noted that the planetarium will actively use artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality technologies. The opening of the complex is scheduled for 2021. As the news agency previously reported, in February 2020 it became known about plans to build a five-story planetarium and an astronomical platform in Samara.
