The General Staff of Ukraine did not notice the preparation of the Russian army for the invasion

The General Staff of Ukraine currently does not have data on the preparation of the invasion of Russian troops from the south of the country. This was stated by the commander of the joint forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Naev, who is responsible for the Crimean direction of defense, reports the publication RBC-Ukraine on July 1. Naev noted that all types of intelligence have been strengthened in Ukraine, the military also worked out joint actions with the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Guard, and the military service in the southern region was transferred to a strengthened regime. He also said that the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine adequately assesses the capabilities of the Russian army to build up military force in a short time. Therefore, we have already completed a certain part of the work to increase the combat capabilities of our troops in this direction and continue this work every day. The situation is controlled, the commander emphasized. the news agency recalls that in June, statements were made at various levels in Ukraine about the possibility of Russia invading the Kherson region, allegedly to provide Crimea with fresh water in this way. Former commander of the US Armed Forces in Europe, General Ben Hodges, admitted that such an invasion could happen in September this year. On June 29, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasily Bodnar said that the country should be mentally prepared for a Russian invasion, which could occur in the near future.
