UN head calls for restraint in Ethiopia
The parties to the confrontation in Ethiopia, where riots continue over the murder of singer Hutchalu Hundessa, should refrain from steps that provoke an aggravation of the situation, said UN Secretary General António Guterres. This was announced by official representative Stefan Dujarric on July 2 at a press conference. The head of the UN asks all forces to maintain calm. Guterres also expresses condolences to the singer's family and relatives of those killed in the riots. In addition, the Secretary General welcomed the statement of the Ethiopian authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice. According to the news agency, earlier it became known that at least 81 people died during the riots in Ethiopia, which broke out in the Oromia region due to the death of Oromo singer and activist Hutchalu Hundessa on June 30.
