Georgia responded to Lavrov's statement on the resumption of flights

To restore air traffic between Georgia and the Russian Federation, the will of the Russian authorities and the improvement of the epidemiological situation in Russia are necessary. This, according to Public Television, on August 21 said the representative of the Prime Minister of Georgia on relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze. Follow the development of events in the broadcast: Countries resume air traffic and open the borders of the broadcast. He commented on the statement of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who expressed hope for the imminent restoration of air traffic. If there is appropriate political will on the part of Russia, I think, as soon as the epidemiological situation allows, this issue can be raised, Abashidze said. Recall that air traffic between Russia and Georgia was discontinued in July 2019. This happened against the backdrop of anti-Russian protests in Tbilisi, which began in June last year due to a visit to the Georgian parliament by the Russian delegation to participate in the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy. In July of this year, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said that in order to resume air travel, it is necessary that Georgia stop the anti-Russian campaign.
